Mycology is the branch of biology concerned with the study of fungi, including their genetic and biochemical properties, their taxonomy and their use to humans as a source for tinder, medicine, food, and entheogens, miromediation, as well as their dangers, such as poisoning or infection.

Did you know the famous 5,000 year old Iceman of the Alps featured on the Discovery Channel, and in National Geographic was carrying two types of fungi when he died of murder? It's true! One used for fire tinder, and another for medicine.

Beer, wine, cheese, soda pop, and many other foods would not be the same without fungi.

Packaging, clothing, building materials, and many other things are now being manufacturer using mushroom mycelium.

Chemicals, oil spills, and radiation is being cleaned up by mycoremediation.

Penicillin, Cyclosporin, and many other antibiotics are made from fungi.

This little known field of study it seems has no limit. See what interests you.
